Well we have been on the phone with the Det all last night and today. He has started picking up people and some are giving info, he has names we didnt know about.
Last night the Det told us he picked up one guy and within an hour we saw a post on one of the perps friends facebook that he was in jail. An hour later the Det tells us hes going to get the other guy, well sure enough a post hits a friends FB saying he is in jail also.
Today we tell the Det that we think the neighbors son helped them break-in and that the neighbors son was on the counties most wanted list also, two hours later the neighbors son is in jail also.
We made the statement to the Det about the how fast he is bringing people in. He tells us there is a set of eyes on every corner in our neighborhood right now. Some cars/trucks have people in them and some dont but they are watching the streets (cameras in empty cars), and they have an ear on the theifs cell phones. He said he knows were all involved are, he is just waiting on them to walk outside to get them. Turns out the ATF are invloved due to the ammount of weapons this group has put on the street from their break-ins.
[:)]Before I could finish this post the Det called back and said that one of the suspects family members was picked up for having a pistol without a permit. He cross checked the ser# and it was my XD.40. The Det is now going to add a charge of having a stolen weapon and see if he can get him to turn on his family member.[8D]

Thanks for the update.
I was beginning to wonder about the progress.
All sounds good ...but did you get the stolen firearms back?...if not how long till ya do?
Not yet, Det said he might need it for evidence. The way he talked he was going to try and get it back to me very soon, within a month is the way I took it.

Really? The detective took the ball and ran with 1 minute left in the fourth quarter. All leg work and research was handed to the detective by legear. The same investigative techniques that a dedicated detective could have employed from the time he received the incident report. Nice to see a clean sweep happening though, that's rare these days with burglaries.
legear...hope you have your property returned ASAP. Any word on the rifle?
Ive got a check from my insurance and have already bought replacement guns, so what if I get my other guns back? Do I have to pay back my ins company? Or I just got lucky?
Question.

If the PD does their job right they will notify your insurance company of the recoveries, and the recoveries become the property of the insurance company or if the insurance company decides it's not worth thier time/energy they can give the recoveries to the PD or you.

No matter what happens if you get the guns back you need to make sure SURE SURE that the stolen report is taken care of properly. Every gun I have ever had a problem with that was "stolen" really wasn't and it had not been dealt with in the right way after something like you are dealing with.

you can call your agent and offer .20 cents on the $ and buy them back. You risk not getting them back for free, but you eliminate any other option for the insurance company to give them away. Insurance companies are about money, it doesn't take much to get their attention.
If they recover any guns of special meaning, it's a small price to pay. If not, hell you only have 20% invested, you can sell for 60% and double your money.

A big part of my job is dealing with stolen cars that someone is trying to title in Illinois. I'd say about half the time the cars were stolen, recovered, and the PD failed to remove it from the system as stolen.
Anything you get back that has a serial number be sure to remind the officers to remove it from NCIC and check back with them in a few days to have them run it and make sure it got out.
Hope I am wrong here, but I am guessing that your neighbors may not be too friendly after this.
Of course, it wasn't the kid's fault, someone else has to be to blame. He is such a wonderful kid, never did anything wrong, he is being falsely accused.[xx(][xx(]
The people who cover and make excuses for thieves are almost as bad as the thieves themselves.
Glad to hear that the POS scumbags thieves are in jail, hope they stay there.

He had a warrant and was on our counties most wanted before I said anything about him to the PD. I just told them when he was home[;)]
You definitely have some LEOs there that are pros.
Good luck to you ... hope all the news continues to be great news ... take care. [^]
