Reloader44mag- Sorry you feel he was not "special enough" to warrent a thread on GB afer his passing.

i think the article shows an example of the unexpected risks that occur while in a war zone.

    What a class act.

Ask yourself....Would I have the balls to do that?

He is special because he did something that could cost him his life (and did) to save a stranger.

Kudos to him and I hope he had the max SGLI so his family is taken care of.

You never cease to amaze me with your posts.

Do I save the Afghan girl and in the process kill myself and destroy my family or let her go.
Either way it's a tough, death decision in your hands, a disaster either way, but one that should consciously be made in every married soldier's mind when an opportunity to act impulsively arises. It differs from a combat situation where you're duty bound to save fellow soldier's lives.
The brain can operate very fast in a crisis.

Good people do good things. Mr. Weichel was a good person.

It is my hope that Hamid Karzai will publicly praise the actions of Mr. Weichel, and thank his country and his family for the sacrifice this brave man made to protect one of Mr. Karzai's countrymen.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

I fear the Ahfgans won't care. If they could interview the little girl she's probably blaim the US for causing it all.
