What is the receiver made of?

Cast aluminimum with a picininny rail on top, cast stainless or folded sheet metal ...
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

ive had a few of both the massive cast lower, and the sheet metal lower. the cast lower guns ALWAYS worked, but are uglier than a pet raccoon! never had one of the steel lowers work. always something wrong with them. if you can get it for 400.00, you might be able to get 500 at a show for it. if your looking for a 308 to keep and shoot, this isnt it.

BURPFIRE,...thanks for your feedback. I don't know what it's made of. It is very ugly! Poorwelds and joints soldered sadly. Looks like someone hammered it with ballpeen hammer!
Also noted it was very difficult to bring to battery...strong spring I reckon.

I think I can get it for $350.00 OTD.
2 WEEK TRY OUT PERIOD .

    I had a L1A1 and regret selling it!![xx(]

Trouble prone is the operative word here, unless of course you are buying it from a friend and you have physically fired it and know that it works. Most of these never run correctly when they come out of the box and Century Arms customer service on those things is legendary...And not in a positive way. Instead of pulling completed auctions to see what a low price you have been offered, I suggest that you run a search over in Ask The Experts and take a look at the very long list of issues that come along with these rifles. Most can be made to shoot reliably but you may not find all of the tinkering need to do so a pleasant diversion.

I had two centurys. First one worked fine but shoots high. I never tweeked the sights sold it off. Second one shoots where you aim it but it had feed problems. Sent to Century and they fixed it right fine. Works perfect now. The Prices on the PTR91's have gotten so low I am tempted to up grade.

What kind of fixture is on the end of the barrel? If a compensator it stands to reason it looks like it was beat with a ball pean hammer. Mine did too. The ones with the flash hiders are later made and better welds are seen.

I'm not seeing PTR's for less than $1000.
