I know the general bullet to go to for maximum wound channel in a hollow point, but I shoot the S & B fmj(90 or 95 grain I think?) because they feed the most reliably in my Ruger LCP, plus they don't seem to have any muzzle flash and I want as much extra penetration as I can get.

FMJ for me. There isn't enough expansion for me to worry about hollow points. I want penetration. I am sure there those that will disagree with me but I experimented on a hog that we butchered. I used Winchester hollow points and I used Winchester FMJ. At 12' the hollow points expanded slightly and did not penetrate as far as the FMJ. The FMJ penetrated a good 8" deeper than the hollow points.

these were recovered after going through 2 heavy wet towels, a 3/4" solid wood board & 10" of wet magazines. They left a hole in the magazines the size of a half dollar. Was just seeing how they might react if shot at a person(through clothing & breastbone). Very informal but I have a lot more faith in the .380 than I did years ago.



I think expectations are perfect expansion---I don't think that happens outside the labs much with these small autos & snubby revolvers.
