    106. So much for the good die young. The man saved the lives of 669 children.

I recall reading the story and it was chilling. He was meeting Nazi officials face to face and arguing with them to be allowed to remove children. Jewish parents giving him their kids hoping to save them. Many of the kids never saw their parents again, some were reunited after the war.

He never spoke of what he did. He never told anyone, even his wife. She happened to find old documents in the attic.

Mr. Winton was a quiet man of incredible strength and modesty. The world is dimished by his passing.

Thank you, also for the link. He was a true humanitarian. It is a sad story but good to remember.
