And buying white pearl grips, will the gun's value decrease if I polish to bright mirror finish? thanks for any input.
Took the piece to the office for show and tell and it was a total hit with the ladies, I asked them why they like it so much, the answer was because it doesn't look as menacing and dangerous as the black ones. [:)]

Odds are the resale value will go down, but if you a going to use the pistol, and you will like it better polished, that is all that really matters.

A Colt is about the only way I'll ever own a mirror polished nickel plated gun.
Somebody that likes shiny may pay more, but folks like me that like original will lose interest.
But heck do what pleases you and yeah it'll sell to somebody.

Very nice Colt, but not to my taste. I prefer blued hand guns.
I can't help myself whenever I hear of polished handguns with pearl grips I remember the Patton quote about pimps, whore houses and New Orleans.
No offence!

Honestly never cared much for shiny guns. I like deep bluing and wood. Oh I buy into practical and new, sure, but the old stuff appeals most and satisfies best.

All my guns are blue exept a wather PPK and this new Rem 1911 it's not a gun I would carry or entrust my life to, so I'm gonna pimp it out.

I think it'd be fun to follow.
Good luck.
Sounds cool/can you do pics, before and after?

Before. I'm starting next weekend so it will be a while

Save the original grips and misc. It can always be changed again.
That R1 looks nice just the way it is![:o)]
Just saying.....think about it.

So Shine away....Make it yours.
Or, if I were compelled to work it over, I think I'd buy one used, or shoot the heck out of this one before I started futzing around with it.
I personally think it will be neat polished up.
What will you use to polish it?
"I think" that if you want to see it that way you gonna get on it!

Nothing to it, the trick is to take plenty of time and polish gradualy without rounding edges, this gun is particularly good for polishing as the stamping is very deep, I did as ruger SA for a friend that came out real nice.

Every time I have "improved" a gun, I eventually regretted it.
Just saying.....think about it.
Neal
Yeah, but it's a relatively cheap gun, so he doesn't have a lot to lose.
Additionally, he could create a gun that the pimp community has-to-have! [;)]

I had not thought of that, Pimps definitely do manage respectable amounts of funds, so my piece's pimp appeal will turn out to be a good thing. There is like 21 pimps bidding on the nickel plated gun on the link posted above.[8][:D]

However, since this project's purely driven by emotions, you need to forgo Neal's sage advice, and proceed forward.
Good luck, Onehandude.
@Neal, NO MORE GOOD ADVICE!!! [:D][:D][:D]

Where is Drobs? Don
That's lookin' good!
That's lookin' good!
Thanks[:)] I will work on the frame next weekend, I tested the water on the frame in a small spot under the grips and it looks it will polish to different color as it is a casting, so I'm thinking of just buffing it just a little and leave some contrast, I should receive the pimp grips next week.
Capt. Jack Sparrow.
I'll have to buy an R1 and send it your way. [:D]
ETA: Oh crap, I put the wrong emoticon after the first sentence.
BTW, nice knife! [^][^]
FYI, I put this: [xx(] instead of this: [^] originally.
Oh yeah, that's looking nice! [^]

THANKS Oso, them is my pimp knives[:D]
Capt. Jack Sparrow.
Nickle placted S&W .32, Colt .38 revolver hand ejectors are my type of toys. I think I'll change out and put some white pearl pimp grips on a couple and resale some wooden checkered ones. Oh I forgot, need some pearl white pimp knives to match gun grips.
Pimp with S&W hand ejector doest not need a knife, in the other hand
pimp with 1911 got to have knife back up cos them suckers will jam up.[:D][:D]

Cause polish and Polish are spelled the same.
It's just that one cap v lowercase.
We're you shooting for shiny or stupid?
I'm a little confused.

First, I thank you for your significant contributions to our great Forum, sorry for confusing you, I'm shooting for SHINNY not shiny or stupid.[:D]
Capt. Jack Sparrow.
Tell me about the knife on the bottom. It looks pretty cool!
Had it many years, used to carry it when I lived in Italy as packing a hand gun was not legal, this are called stilletos in Italy.
I cherish this old knife as it got me out of trouble real quick a couple of times. Oh and it's auto blade pops when the button is pressed. If you mean the one on bottom of slide pic, also auto bery good blade it's Czech made.
Capt. Jack Sparrow.
I Think you should work on the frame and shine it up to match the slide sides.
