One of the range officers, Jeff Gore, mugging the camera.

Bill Webb. Good friend.

It was a good time, and a bunch of us went out for lunch afterward.

He's 87, and he didn't shoot himself or anyone else, and I was only a participant this time. No more running the range for me.

Pic 3, I've never seen a nail apron used in qualifying. Looks like it would work though. [:D]

If you got any closer to the target David you could hold the target in one hand and shoot it with the other hand. [;)][:D]

I didn't post all the pictures, and not all the shooting was as close as you see here. Maximum range was 15 yards, not real challenging, but the range officers try to take it easy on the old guys.

    good for you .
spending time and I am sure a lot of story telling , with all the years of experience on the field I am sure several books could be written
sorta looks like a movie where all the experienced guys come out and save the day

the Chief looks a lot like a friend of mine who retired about 10 years ago from the same company I just retired from ( he also has a great fondness for firearms )

Wait that was the target? I thought it was simulated cover.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

    Bill Webb aka Winston Bode.

I guess I can come out of the shadows now since I'm not subject to anyone's social media policy.

It was a good day, always fun to get together and see who's still kicking. I served under two of the three retired chiefs who were there.

If that's who I think it is he's a retired state trooper who was a long time member of their pistol team back in the day. Old guy or not, he'd be a serious challenge to beat.

Back in the revolver days nail aprons were commonly used to tote loose rounds when you were going through a bunch per range session. You went downrange with it full of live rounds and came back with your policed brass. Now rinse and repeat.

Nice work Nunn! My cc qualifying target looked like yours and the instructor complained I was putting them so close together he could not count them. I am glad to see that is a good thing.
