My old neighbor bought a simlar system from Nothern Tool6-8 years ago. It is capable of 4 cameras, but only came with two. I don't remember now, but I think it was only a couple hundred bucks, max. When he ordered it, I thought what kind of joke is ths. Well did I get a suprse. The cameras are very clear, and in color. The recorder date/time stamps the tape. It still works great today.

Sorry, I know you asked about HF, but if it's anything like that Northern set up, it'll be ok.

I have checked it out and read reviews.

I found what seemed to be better systems on Amazon for the same price.

I've got some of HT's security pieces and I'm quite satisfied. 1. $25 Wireless infrared driveway alert. Simple, small battery operated box, good for up to 50'D X 75'W and sends a signal over 150' to the ringer box inside my office when something crosses its beam. 2. 4-camera video with screen & recorder. Set it up different ways of operation; single screen, multi-screen, rotating single screen They're full color with sound and night vision. Ran around $400 as I recall. 3. Lastly, the $20 "radar lite" we call it. Has two floodlites (adjustable angles) and a sensor pod below them. When something crosses the beam (75 degrees wide) it turns on the floodlites for whatever length of time you set it for. Got two for front & back door porch lites. All pieces have functioned great for years. Even after I moved, took them down and re-installed them at new location. Batteries in gate guard last over a year. When they are running down they don't just quit, they start a continous alarm sound telling you they're going out.
I would recommend the HT stuff to anyone seeking some dependable security for the home or shop, which is the same in my case.

If it's as good as the Tools They sell it might work for a week or two before it dies.

A video system that also allows you to view whatever occurred for 30-60 seconds prior to the event which triggered the system to begin recording. The advantage is that you get to see what led up to the system triggering and obtain a complete view of what caused it with no loss of possibly significant activity at the beginning.

It's done by the system continuously writing to the hard drive, but over-writing if no event takes place which causes images to be saved. When a triggering event occurs it's able to mark data for save which was actually written prior to this.

I think I'd rather have this system!

    http://www.samsclub.com/sams/qsee-8x8-700tvl-8-960h-secrty-sys/prod11630139.ip

    +1
    2x HD
    2x cameras
    700TVL instead of 400TVL

I have not used Qsee's systems.
I started with a NightOwl 4/400TVL then got a good price on an 8 Chanel.
I upgraded one of the cameras to a 640TVL Swann. WHAT A DIFFERENCE.
