The mayor of a small city in Washington reportedly admitted that he called President Barack Obama "monkey man" and first lady Michelle Obama "gorilla face," but says he will not resign over the racist comments.

"Gorilla face Michelle, can't disagree with that," Patrick Rushing, mayor of Airway Heights, reportedly wrote in a Facebook post. "The woman is not attractive except to monkey man Barack. Check out them ears. LOL."
It's too late for me, save yourself.

Since when are comments supposed to help someone. Comments by their very nature are simply an expression of the right of freedom of speech.

Just as a side note, you called the guy an idiot. I doubt your comment helped anyone either so, I guess it's a kind of "Pot, meet Kettle" kind of thing. [:D]

It is interesting the Obama makes racism statements after Charleston but with a Muslim, he reserves judgement. Obama can't even call him a Muslim.

Since his choice in how to exercise his freedom of speech resulted in a stronger position for those he attempted to criticize, then branding him an idiot is fitting.

The difference between my comment and his is not hard to see, but it does require some thought.

Obama's racist statements were cause for pause and comment for sometime but now, they are looked on and accepted by most as just 'Folks being folks" or just a politician doing what politicians do thus making his racist statements acceptable in the eyes of "Main stream media"

Remember the "To big to fail" debacle with GM and banks awhile back. Well, Obama's handlers have applied that line of thinking to Obama and between the progressives and the "low information voters" in society, it's worked like a charm thus far.

Twenty four dollars worth of Shiny trinkets and bits of colored glass were used by the Dutch to flim-flam the American Indian out of Staten Island back in 1624 much the same way Snap cards and other government handouts have robbed the people of this country of their pride and individuality.

Crap, I've jumped the reservation and gone off and hijacked the subject completely.
    Sorry

I do not know the name of the person who came up with the chimpanzee face for GW Bush. But he, she or it was an * too.

People of all political persuasions have used caricatures and political cartoons to make their feelings known since Colonial days here in the States.

I'm somewhat interested to know where you draw the line between acceptable carticature and when someone crosses the line and become an *.
I would expect that your answer would be totally subjective and everyone here might well draw a different line or, no line at all if they believe in the First Amendment.

I can't think of a single political figure of note that hasn't been the butt of a less than flattering picture or cartoon.
It goes with the job sir.

I would not censor nor otherwise punish anyone by force of law, regulation or government action of any sort. Certainly not that. I would not have wanted it done against the scurrilous dogs that besmirched George Washington and other Founders in their day, I would not want it done today either.

Their freedom to behave badly is protected as it should be.

By "behave badly" I mean persons in positions of leadership. They claim to be in our service, they should rise to the occasion. Not get down on their hands and knees and crawl in the filth of their own creation.

That is a weakness we could well afford to see our "leaders" leave behind.

    Specious argument.

Hardly. By calling the comparison of a gorilla and Obama racist, you are acknowledging what scientist know, but never say.
We are in the same position today as we were when Cro-Magnon man walked the Earth with the Neanderthal.
Eventually the obsolete Neanderthal was bred out, but vestiges remain in the DNA record.
The missing link has always been staring us right in the face.

My debate coach always said that you do not win an argument by saying the other guy's argument is bad.

You must clearly and logically demonstrate why that is the case.

Many people would benefit from understanding that.

Saying 'Specious Argument' is a fancy way of saying 'Oh Huh!', and carries just as much intellectual weight, i.e. None.

If one subscribes to evolution theory, one accepts that mankind began in Africa.

As the species evolved, it began its migration out of Africa.

Not sure if this helps the conversation.

Seriously, Obama is an evil genius. I am 100% positive his goal has been the destruction of this once great country. You cannot say he isn't doing a great job of obtaining his goal.[:(!]

Out of context I would tend to agree with you.

In context of the remarks it referenced, it was a correct response made without resorting to the more colorful language it deserves.
