And what is probably most disturbing is the introduction of a bill to get rid of the electoral college.[xx(]

Clinton's lead in the popular vote surpasses 2 million

A half-dozen electors, those who will formally cast votes for Trump and Clinton on Dec. 19, are pushing to block Trump from winning a majority of votes.

Hillary Clinton's lead over Donald Trump in the popular vote surpassed 2 million Wednesday morning, according to Dave Wasserman of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.

Clinton has garnered 64,223,958 votes, compared to Trump's 62,206,395 votes.

By Nov. 15, the Democratic nominee's advantage had crossed the 1-million mark and ballooned to 1.5 million by Sunday.

Despite Clinton's lead in the popular vote, it was Trump who prevailed on Election Day by clinching 270 Electoral College votes.

Trump told New York Times reporters Tuesday he would "rather do the popular vote" and was "never a fan of the Electoral College until now."

"The popular vote would have been a lot easier, but it's a whole different campaign. I would have been in California, I would have been in Texas, Florida and New York, and we wouldn't have gone anywhere else," Trump said. "Which is, I mean I'd rather do the popular vote."

"But I think the popular vote would have been easier in a true sense because you'd go to a few places," he added. "I think that's the genius of the Electoral College. I was never a fan of the Electoral College until now."

Trump's comments echo the sentiments he expressed a week after his historic election, when he tweeted: "The Electoral College is actually genius in that it brings all states, including the smaller ones, into play. Campaigning is much different!"

That, however, was an about-face from what he tweeted after President Barack Obama's reelection against Mitt Romney in 2012.

"The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy," Trump declared then.

For good measure, Trump boasted last week, "If the election were based on total popular vote I would have campaigned in N.Y. Florida and California and won even bigger and more easily."

California Sen. Barbara Boxer, a Democratic lawmaker who supported Clinton, introduced legislation last week to abolish the Electoral College. The long-shot bid is not expected to clear the GOP-controlled Congress, though.

And at least a half-dozen electors, those who will formally cast votes for Trump and Clinton on Dec. 19, are pushing to block Trump from winning a majority of votes.

While the effort is unlikely to succeed - even if it did, the House of Representatives could simply choose to elect Trump - so-called faithless electors who buck the will of the voters could spur more widespread calls for reform.

Al Gore's lead over George W. Bush in the famously close 2000 election was about 500,000 - which at the time was the largest advantage in the popular vote for a candidate who lost the Electoral College vote in the presidential election.

Boxer and Rangel are wasting their time, neither is in the majority in their respective chambers. This is all a play to their base to keep the anger up.

Take out NY City, Miami, LA, San Francisco and Chicago and see who got the popular vote.

Do away with the Electoral College and there would be no reason to campaign anywhere but the most populated cities. Our votes wouldn't matter at all. [:(!]

Well, first of all even though they are liberal hell holes they are still part of America, and their votes do and should count. So, let's just dispense with the nonsense about not counting their votes.

We saw that in 2000. They've perfected it this go-round.

My guess is that if you could remove the fraudulent votes from the total Trump likely beat Clinton in the popular vote. I am comfortable with that assessment. [8D]

Of course their votes count but so do ours. My point is that's where Hillary's high numbers come from, not the country as a whole.

Our country has a system in place called the "electoral college". That is the way it works.

If those folks living in the big cities want to change the outcome of an election, they should move to another state - get the majority in that state to vote for "their" candidate - and then the electoral college for that state will vote for "their" candidate.

There are more people living in any of those big cities mentioned than there are living in my whole state - and we like it that way. [:D]

Of course the folks living in the big cities, would probably not survive very long out here in "fly over" country. [;)]

We don't have many of those . . . ummmmm . . . "amenities" (?) they are so used to in the big cities - and we like it that way too. [:D]

"A half-dozen electors, those who will formally cast votes for Trump and Clinton on Dec. 19, are pushing to block Trump from winning a majority of votes."

WOW! A whole half-dozen Socialist 'rats! Well, obviously we need to bend to their will! [}:)]

This is just the 'rats and media trying to change the will of the people. The people they thought were too stupid to oppose them and their wannabe queen.

If there's a recount it will hopefully uncover the three million illegals who voted for Hilly. ;) Meaning Trump is really ahead in the popular vote by a million votes.

I don't think this will go anywhere, but if it does, and the election is overturned, the left is going to find out what the second American revolution is all about. They won't live till July 4th. They'll REALLY be looking for "safe spaces."

They're trying so ridiculously hard to overturn the will of the people because if Hilly got in she would (and could) turn America into a Socialist slave state - forever (unless there was the War of Northern Aggression .)

Her SCOTUS pick(s) would be her loyal lapdogs and do anything she wanted. Fuch the Constitution. The first and second amendments are unConstitutional? Of course! Etc.

These people want America to be a real life "Oceania," so they will go to any length to try to make it a reality - no matter how foolish it makes them look.

What they would be able to do, and finish, at this point in time is the very reason they are going to do ANYTHING humanly possible to turn this thing around. They are within a hairs width of taking over this country in full for generations to come,....maybe forever.

I think some of you folks are taking all of this recount and flipping electors too lightly. We'll see very, very soon and I hope you are right and I'm wrong.

I am sure the demorats will keep finding more paper ballots and absentee ballots voting for Hillary over the next four years.

I wonder how many showed up after the election.

If they can pay people to cause violence at a Trump rally, stuffing ballot boxes is no big deal.

I think you should look at what is also on the ballot of each state to determine its validity in a "popular" vote. Legalized weed was on the ballot in CA, NV and medicinal in FL. That in and of itself, would get a few million off their butts in those state to go to the polls.... Wouldn't want a weed vote to determine a president....

The electoral college part of the constitution was settled when the constitution was first adopted by the colonies. If it had not been that way there would be no USA today as we know it. Some of the colonies would never have joined together.
Furthermore many of the states today would not ratify it if an attempt was made to change it. It is what it is some people need to get over it.

Clinton won't go for it. Because it would mean counting ALL the votes. From all "57 states". All the absentee ballots. Certifying all the votes by the no-I.D. crowd.

Trump, Boxer, and Rangel have similar views of the Electoral College. No surprise here. All view the individual States as inconvenient creations of the Federal State, showing their fundamental ignorance of what this country was and should be.

The rules of the game is you have to win the electoral college, right? Change the rules to the popular vote and you have an entirely new game.

Trump could have spent more time in California rather than Michigan to garner more popular votes. The campaign strategy is based on the rules of the game.......what a bunch of sore pusses.

These are States that Clinton won with a +10% margin or more over Trump. And there voter ID requirements.

    California Clinton +28 NO ID
    Connecticut Clinton +14 Non-strict non-photo ID
    Delaware Clinton +11 Non-strict non-photo ID
    D.C. Clinton +89
    Hawaii Clinton +32 Non-strict non-photo ID
    Illinois Clinton +16 NO ID
Maryland Clinton + 26 NO ID
    Massachusetts Clinton +27 NO ID
New Jersey Clinton +13 NO ID
New York Clinton +21 NO ID
    Rhode Island Clinton +15 Non-strict non-photo ID
    Vermont Clinton +28 NO ID
    Washington Clinton +17 Non-strict non-photo ID

    https://ballotpedia.org/Voter_identification_laws_by_state#tab=Map

I can't see how any discussion of changing or eliminating the Electoral College can take place without including the requirements for National voter standards and a national registration. These standards should not be subject to ANY Executive Order. Actually a Constructional amendment would be required and should set the standards and NOT provide for legislation.

Viewing the popular vote AFTER the election could be misleading. Is it not possible that Trump voters in CA may have seen the futility and just chose to avoid the crowds and possible harassment and stayed home, since the popular vote only mattered in their State. Now the same could be said for Clinton voters. How many hits you get in a ball game should not alter the results AFTER the game, it's still how many runs that count.

Too many influential people really don't want to find out who out cheated who, because it will get too messy. Beating skunks at their own game, be it a war of words or out cheating them is nothing new. Thing to do is step up your verbal and voting attacks on them 24/7...now that the ball is rolling our way.

Apparently, Trump isn't as dumb as some thought he was. It seems a guy who has built a multi-billion dollar business enterprise has to learn, surround himself with smart people, and adapt.
