Anita Dorian, the high soprano you hear singing background on The Tokens: The Lion Sleeps Tonight passed away last month. Other singers have sung backup for that song, but she was ethereal. Not matched by any.

She was an talented soprano who sang lots of Broadway musicals like Showboat and The King and I.

Damn shame. RIP Anita.

I seriously thought that was a theremin.

I've seen Beverly Sills on broadway.

But had no idea that was a human hitting those notes.

    Amazing.

The guy singing first tenor (Alto?) must be shy a nut or two.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Jay Siegel. He has as good a falsetto voice as maybe anyone but Jay Black. Most guys don't have that level of control.

The group that became The Tokens started with Neil Sedaka as a member. It has always been interesting to me to see the people who swapped and switched between groups in the 60's.
