    Four of them cut the head off a teen from Lynchburg last year, their trial is coming up.

    Kind a wish there were helicopter rides for folks like them from the era of Vietnam. Few hundred feet and hit "turbulence" and whoopsie daisy. I'd chip in for fuel for those rides.

    The defendants have a right to request continuances in order to prepare their defense. Once a defendant waives their speedy trial rights the clock slows down. If a reasonable time is not provided a defendant then that becomes an issue for appeal, so sometimes it takes awhile to get to trial.

    Also it takes 6 months to a year to get back DNA results. The Department of Forensic Science is overwhelmed with evidence requests. It is taking 6 months and more just to get drug testing back. Most of our felony drug cases take a year before they are able to go to trial.
