Kid up the street from us has a 66 charger that was his fathers. It is restored to mint condition and he takes it to all the car shows. Beautiful car. We go to a car hop/show at an ice cream stand near us on Tuesday night during the summer. Really cool seeing the old cars and a lot of old muscle cars.

    I had a 66 GTO TriPower.
Wife had a Dodge Dart slant 6.
    Had the 66 Mustang. And a 67 2+2.
    A 59 VW.
Wanted a Comet Caliente but got a 64 Sprint 289.
Also had a 63 1/2 Falcon Convertible, 260. Loved that one.
Almost got the Austin Healey 3000.
Wanted most of the rest of those.[8D]
But in 1965, had a 58 Chev. Biscayne. Pretty car. 283, straight stick.

My first car was a 1965 GTO, bought it used in 1976 for $200, it ran, only had 67,000 miles on it! It was a bit rusty, my Dad worked in a bodyshop, and we fixed and painted it Red, I had $650 in it, and it looked awesome!

My Dad had a 1965 Ford LTD that he bought new.

When cars had real engines, and didn't all look alike.

One typo they have is on the 1966 Galaxie 500 XL. The 'optional' engine debuted that year was the 428 ci. It's longer stroke and better torque curve allowed for the use of accessories like they list. You could still order the 427 ci in the full size cars, but many of the comfort features were then off the table. Both were included in what they called the '7 litre package'.

Very few of the solid cam, high compression 427 ci engines were ordered, and it took a couple years for the 428 Cobra Jet performance features to arrive.

Closest I can come was a '68 Olds Toronado, with a 455. You seriously did not want to challenge it in a quarter. At least, not in my redneck circles. A longtime ago.

I had a 65 GTO in 1967 when I was a Junior in High School. Maroon with a white convertible top. Wish I had it in a garage somewhere now.

I learned to drive on my parents' 1988 Mercury Colony Park wagon. 5.0 v-8 power. Like a boat. I don't think it changed much since 1965.

    Still have my GTO.

I had a 1965 Buick Riviera GranSport 2 4's 425 that was bought at Barrett Jackson in1978 with 17,000 miles and totally restored. I needed money in 1983 and sold it for $7000. I see they go for $40,000 up now. Oh well.
