To those M1s and 1911s everyone said would be coming through the CMP at any minute?

I know the M1s sold out before they got here. I don't know about the 1911s

The sale of up to 10,000 1911s per year was in the national Defense budget and has been approved, but the release must be authorized by the Secretary of The Army. Eric Fanning, the last actual Secretary, took no action, likely under orders from Obama, who signed the bill but knew that as it was written it did not automatically release the pistols. The current Secretary is only acting and probably lacks the authority to do much other than be a caretaker. Trump's last two nominees for Secretary have withdrawn and I don't know if there is anyone in the wings.

We keep hearing about a number of M1s in the Philippines which may be released to the CMP, but that depends on when those rifles are delivered to the Army and none of them have moved off the PI as of yet. After that they have to be delivered to the CMP where they must be graded or repaired before release. If things got moving today, maybe early 2018?

I got a message from CMP yesterday that Sec. of the Army had not authorized release of the 1911s yet. Makes me think it will be soon.

IIRC the M1s and Carbines in S.Korea are not our property. They want to be paid for them, which means no CMP. They would go to wholesalers/importers.
The prices then will be crazy.
The Philippines have 86,000 Garands that should be in CMP hands soon.

Mark, what condition do you think the Philippine Garands will be in?

I would imagine they'd be like those which came in from Central America several years back...rough. Most of those were stripped down by the CMP and used for parts. There is always hope, but I'm not holding my breath for any collector quality rifles from the PI.

It's my understanding the M1 Garands and Carbines in S Korea are US property. But Korea wants to sell them to importers to bring them back here and can't ... because they are ours. I suspect if Trump wanted them back he could get them back, but understand why that issue might be a low priority right now

They're buried under all the building supplies for Trump's border wall.

When I said it was a low priority I was thinking more about N Korean nukes, Iran, China and all the folks working against him here at home to undermine everything he does.
