USS Hovey

Do any of you WWII history buffs have any info on this ship. My grandfather was on it they day it sunk, in fact he claims we was the last person on this boat. For most of my life he would never even talk about that day, but lately he has talked more to and more about his time in the service. Would like to find out as much as I could about this ship. Any where besides google to find out more?

Found a listing in an old copy of "Battle Stations". Lists as sunk along with the sweepers Long, and Palmer, and the escort carrier
Ommaney Bay during the Ling a yen Gulf operations. Date lost Jan. 6
45 due to air attacks. I salute your grandfather


pull the spaces out of the gulf name.

Was looking at some of my old post and came across this one. Grandpa has began to slip in the mind. Some of my best conversations will be about his times on the Hovey. I would still love be to hear any info you have about this ship. Although grandpas time here is coming to an end he will always be a hero to me. He had to lie about his age so he could go a serve. He raised a great family. He thought me a strong work ethic, how to fish and how to be a father and a man.
