Crowded safe, his loss, my gain

Of all the dumb reasons to sell a gun, I picked up a Stevens 520 12 gauge with the JC Higgins label because the guy didn't have enough room in the safe. Gee whiz! The guy knew that the gun breaks down easy and could have been hidden in two locations to discourage theft.

If I should happen across another good deal on a genuine Stevens or other house brand model, can I expect the barrels to interchange? This one has been (professionally) cut down to 20"
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

I've had good luck swapping barrels on several Stevens/Savages BUT I'm not going to say it's going to work every time or even that it's a good idea to do so, maybe luck has been on my side [:)]

My experience is that it requires some fitting in a good percentage of the guns (mostly minor).
    I like the Stevens M520 & M620 and still have a 12ga M520 in my safe.

Over the years I have owned both models in 12ga and in my favorite 20ga. I have also repaired a good number of them over the years I spent doing light to moderate gun smithing for a local dealer.

    Good guns.
