Lost another friend yesterday.

My friend John had a massive heart attack and fell dead yesterday. I had known John and his wife, Rhonda, for 35 years. He was only 55 years old. He leaves three grown children and an infant grandchild.
This makes 2 friends dead and two others diagnosed with cancer in the past three months. All of them younger than me.
I'm having trouble with this one. Maybe it's an accumulative effect. I don't know but I've been a wreck since I got Rhonda's message last night.
When I was young I really believed that I was going to die young. I was genuinely surprised when I was still alive at 40. Now I realize that my curse is to live a long time and watch all my friends die.

You get old, you lose friends.
For some odd reason, I have made my best friends with older folks who have shared their lives and taken me under their wings kind of like mentors.
They are all gone now and if it were not for the wife and kids and siblings, I really have no real close friends.[:(]
Keep the faith.
