Now honestly did you think President Trump would really do what he said in the campaign? It's all rhetoric to get elected!

President-elect Donald Trump's administration will not pursue further investigations of Hillary Clinton related to her private email server or the Clinton Foundation, Trump's former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday, a significant break from a major campaign promise.

I look at this a bit differently...

Trump currently holds no office and Clinton has not been charged with any crimes... Yet.

Once Trump takes office, then things may well change. If Trump really is a law and order man and if the FBI or other entity detects the possibility of a Clinton crime, then all bets will be off.

Right now the smartest thing Trump could do is exactly what he's doing. By saying he has no personal animosity against the Clintons and by saying that he will not initiate legal proceedings against them is in the best interest of all.

Once Trump takes office, then things might change as new facts may be presented and leave him no choice but to unleash the hounds. From a political standpoint this would be the best of both worlds for Trump. I suspect that he'd love to hold Hillary to the fire while at the same time denying anything personal.

I see the possibility of a perfect outcome. Hillary charged and convicted while Trump maintains nothing personal and that he is only upholding the law.

Personally, I don't give a crap if he pursues charges against the wack-a-doodle * as her reign is over, what I do care about is "The Wall", Muslims and most of the rest of his promises.

Trump is trying to create a more relaxed national atmosphere, there is real work to be done and it's good that he is not focusing on revenge issues.

Not advocating one way or the other, but ponder this. Our political system is screwed up enough now, partly/intentionally by design of the founders and the rest by the various partisan factions. What kind of train wreck would we have if every time a new faction came to power they began prosecuting their former opponents? Do a few banana republics come to mind?

All the article says is that Conway says 'there is no plan' to investigate Hillary. Note that it doesn't say a plan couldn't come later, or that a Trump administration will do anything to halt the current investigations.

What is noteworthy in the article, is that the Ds complained about this as some sort of pre-presidential overreach.

Really, folks, you needn't spend so m6ch effort criticizing what Trump does or doesn't do. The Left will do that for you.

Typical Politician bull poop. I guess the expiration date on the campaign is less than 2 weeks.

"President-elect Donald Trump has just announced he "doesn't wish to pursue" charges"

"President-elect Donald Trump won't subject Hillary Clinton to a criminal inquiry - instead, he'll help her heal, his spokeswoman said Tuesday."

"Look, I think, he's thinking of many different things as he prepares to become the president of the United States, and things that sound like the campaign are not among them," Conway, who is now on the Trump transition team, said in her interview.

She continued: "I think Hillary Clinton still has to face the fact that a majority of Americans don't find her to be honest or trustworthy, but if Donald Trump can help her heal, then perhaps that's a good thing."

    http://www.allenbwest.com/michellejesse/breaking-trump-says-four-words-charging-hillary

I may have missed it but I don't recall "helping her heal" was anywhere in the Trump campaign.

I do see the problem he faces. Pursuing would go all the way to the top. The obvious conclusion is that criminal actions by previous administrations is expectable and American just needs to HEAL or more apt would be JUST SUCK IT UP AND LIVE WITH IT.

Perhaps Donald doesn't want to end up like the others, Ron Brown, Vince Foster, Ives & Henry and many more from the Clinton list.

It isn't his place or duty to "go after her." A President doesn't do that. That's the duty of the FBI and Justice Department, which the President is not supposed to influence. God knows we've had eight years of the president influencing Justice, the FBI, the IRS, etc. Trump probably wants to get away from that and make government law-abiding and honorable again.

I agree with those who think he is just distancing himself from all this so as to not get bogged down and distracted from working on the economy, immigration, etc. But his Attorney General and new FBI director will continue to investigate.

Fox just showed a quote from T saying the investigations will continue.

So this is just a smart move by him so he can say he has no animosity toward the Clintons, while his Attorney General and the FBI are busy digging their graves with the investigations.

Let's let the man get in office and actually do something before we begin prosecuting him.

Once in office Trump cannot legally order DOJ or FBI to investigate anyone. Obama has violated this many times. Also ordered them to ignore crimes by blacks and members of his administration. Trump will likely not play politics with federal law enforcement agencies. However, the new AG can decide to pursue anyone he thinks he can make a case against.

The POTUS has no authority to charge anyone as I understand it.

His Justice Department may or may not.

Personally she got a ride from Obama and the FBI, I am MUCH more concerned with what Trump and the GOP can accomplish moving forward to waste precious time chasing a ghost.

Clinton is politically dead in my opinion and Trump needs to succeed in action to make Obama and the rest quickly unimportant.

I'm disappointed. Trump has a lot of balls in the air but allowing the investigation to proceed wouldn't take much of his time.

What do you suppose Trump got in return, if anything ?

or was something else a higher priority?

I agree, there is to much to do to expend energy and political position on her. If somethings leads back to her and it has to happen then so be it. There is just to much to do to worry about her right now.

It is a good political move to let Hillary off the hook.
Look, in a just and fair world she would be doing 5 years in Leavenworth, and Bill would be doing the same.

However, Trump only has so much political capitol to spend. He needs to focus on his objectives.
If he got the Vile Harridan indicted, that one story would take up the first 2 years of his administration. Every lib from Schumer to Pelosi would be on NBC news every night defending the Vile Harridan and her corrupt, malignant husband. Hillary, once again, would get to play the aggrieved "victim," the role that the libs cherish above all else.
She would be the victim of the crazy, Nazi, Republican President.

Trump played it smart. Let the two ruined old lib pols ride off into the sunset. She will be remembered as the Loser of the biggest upset in 70 years.
All the millionaires from Saudi Arabia and elsewhere, who pumped ten million dollars into the Clinton foundation, in the past 8 years, hoping to buy influence once the Vile Harridan was elected President, will realize they were played for a fool by Bill and his nasty wife.

Trump played it smart, let these two corrupt old libs fade away and go away.

HILLARY CLINTON GET OUT OF TOWN!!!!!

My understanding he said that he would not open a NEW investigation into the email.

My take on that leaves the door open to Justice prosecuting under information already known. Also his statement leaves the door open for Obummer to make or not make a presidential pardon.

No pardon leaves the door open. Pardon in hand opens other doors.

    Win/Win.

The two party system is a farce. Trump told the public it wanted to hear and won !The Art of the Deal! Now he backpedals daily proving the two party system is nothing but a mirage!

Soon he will be for the dream act (illegal immigration) and will reinstate it or come out with a different title with the same out come! We have been hoodwinked again I am afraid!

They were going to deport those with felonies anyway. He has done nothing but bait and switch we the people!

Trump's not going to tell the liberal media anything. If anything he'll tell them exactly opposite of what he plans. Plus telling them he's not going after the old hag just might keep obama from feeling the need to give her a get out of jail free card before he leaves office.

Now that Trump has been elected I would just as soon the name clinton was never heard again. Prosecuting the hildabeast would just keep her name in the news for the majority of Trumps first term. He's got a lot of things more important to do.

It's not that! It's what his campaign promises said and what he is saying now after he has been elected! He is acting just like Obama in this regard.

There is no consistency from Trump the campaigner to trump The President elect!

TRUMP IS NOT POTUS, yet. He is not the FBI, he is not the Attorney General.

Just where is it written in our Constitution the job of POTUS is to investigate possible crimes and file charges against an accused.

For the 100th time, I do not like Trump being POTUS but for the love of Pete stop believing every crapola story about what he will or will not do.
