Got a perfect one for them, old .22 rifle that was butchered into a pistol length (found it in the lake). Still fires single shot ,but won't chamber from the mag.
Worth several hundred to me, but I'll sacrifice just to get those evil things from the street.
that's because early on every piece of crap or piece of a gun was turned in was given the full amount and they ran out of money with in a couple hours [:D][:D]
they have not had one for years . I think they learned there lesson
I never made it down but heard the original buy backs had 'cherry pickers " going down the line of people so they went with you sat in your car and pulled up to prevent the lines of people
just a pat on the back good feeling moment for the *
also it was always a no questions ask so really in theory you could still it run down the street and sell it as no effort in finding if it was stolen and no names taken just to get it off the public hands .
They had pictures in the next days newspaper of guns that were turned in & they had a picture of the cannon I turned in that made it look like it was full size.
We also have Operation Exile. "If you get busted with a gun you'll go to a Federal Prison as far from Rochester as the system can find." Started with billboards, 9 Feebs and 4 city cops on a Snack Force with a secretary. When the high melanin Maya's daughter's "Fiancee" "exchange student" (working on his GED) got popped, the Maya pulled strings, and the FAT Feebs pulled out. Only people in town who think the program works are Infotwitts.
Note the website didn't say anything about destroying the firearms[:D]
always went well in the big city south of me . it got so bad they had LEO confirming the guns would fire . and only the "big money " would be paid out a so called "assault rifle " I think they use to give out 25 to 100 dollar voucher . if the gun met there guidelines of course .

WTH is the decoder ring for the second part of this post?
$100 for an AR, unbelievable.
Anyone taking bets they resell the guns at a huge profit.
So this is a private company that holds the "buy back" in a community seemingly for local authorities. Actually they are just buying working firearms hoping to pick up some gems for next to nothing, and profit by reselling. Brilliant![:D]
I still don't like it.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
i read every page
their calendar is empty
they appear to be real experts

quote:
To be eligible for a bounty, a firearm must pass a basic function check:
5. For revolvers:
a. Swing the cylinder open and visually ensure that no live rounds are present. Close the cylinder, pull the trigger - the cylinder should rotate and the hammer should fall.
b. Cock the hammer, and pull the trigger - the hammer should fall.
c. Place the weapon on safe, cock the hammer, and pull the trigger - the hammer should not fall.
Calling it a "buyback" was a stroke of genius. That feelgood word will appeal to the liberal antigunners who have inherited guns and want to get rid of them and feel good about themselves at the same time. [:D][:D]

I have a new buddy "Macie" our latest pound rescue who demands attention while I am trying to type at night that's our quality time and she knows it. she keeps dragging or tugging on my shirt to play so I give in to her . it takes me several attempts to get a post made some nights with out reviewing some of what I typed , so broken English and part sentences , skipped words are due to lack of focus on my part . like hildibest I will do better [:D][:D]

I'm just funnin' with ya DR.[:o)]
I remember the NJ $100 long gun buy back...
At the time dicks sporting goods had single shot breakopen shotguns on special for $69.99...
You do the math.
Mike
Mike, Atlantic City pays 200 for long guns now. I turned in a barrel and a stock, from an old shotgun I found in the trash. It had no trigger or action, just the stock and barrel. Took the 200 and bought a muzzle loader. Now I look for old junkers, just to sell at the gun buy back in AC. Oakie

The New York State Attorney General's Office and the Rochester Police had a community buy-back on Saturday, a few days after the Attorney General said that three ZIP codes in the city account for about half of the guns recovered from crimes in Monroe County.
Organizers said that today's event gave people the opportunity to safely turn in unwanted guns to help prevent them from being used in crimes.
Assist. Attorney General in Charge Ted O'Brien said that it is often unwanted gun that can cause the most trouble:
"It's often that unwanted guns that are most likely if they do go missing won't necessarily be noticed," he said, "If it is an unwanted gun and it does go missing and the homeowner doesn't even know, we see that as a public safety issue."
"It can fall into the wrong hands."
Organizers said that more than 70 guns were collected at Saturday's event.
They might have collected more if they publicized the dog & pony show.
"Gun buy back" would lead you to believe that all guns belonged to the government at one time and now they are buying them back. [:(!]
None of my guns, belong to the Federal Govt. (And,) I am not, selling any of them back.
Just sayin'.
