What Remington is behind the prez in the office. It is under the picture of Andrew Jackson. I can never get a good look at it but I believe it is either "Bronco Buster" or "Rattlesnake"? Just curious since I have a good size "Rattlesnake (about 30#)". Shows someone has good taste. Tom

I've seen what your describing, I own a "Rattle Snake" and I'm pretty sure that what I'm seeing in the background (but maybe not).......he has another one with what looks to me like a Stonewall Jackson on a raring horse but I'm sure he wouldn't have a Confederate General being honored in the White House (all Hell would break loose) [:D].

    Bronco Buster

Bush had it (or one like it) in the office when he was president.

I have 3 smaller versions ( 12"reproductions) and some Remington prints, and a couple by Charlie Russell. I have that one, Bronco Buster, and The Cheyenne, and the Rattlesnake. I was at an auction once, one of those mostly junk type they held every week at a small town fairground, and there was a very large "Coming thru the Rye" brought out. I wanted it bad. There were not very many people there, I bid $100, and no one else bid. They stopped and would not complete the sale. I like all of Remington's work.

I have a 12" "Rattlesnake" reproduction sitting on my grandfather's old roll top desk...bought used by him in 1919-no telling how old it really is-then several large "War of Northern Aggression" Mort Kunsler water colors (among others)I inherited from my brother adorning the walls. General Forrest leading his troops "Out of a Bad Place" (one title) never fails to inspire me!

Like Les mentioned, it is the Bronco Buster. I have one like it that is heavy and right at two feet in height.
    What's next?

Fideau, I would love to have the "coming thru the rye". I'll bet a larger one would weigh a ton.

I have a large Russell print and I believe it is "Price of horseflesh" been a long time since I looked it up. Tom

PS: Les, yes I have seen it in the office going back many years. May have started with Reagan. T

Frederic Remington gave one to President Theodore Roosevelt as a gift. It has been a permanent part of the Oval Office decor since.

I bought a gun at an estate auction and they were auctioning off an entire collection of them. individually. They went for big coin as I recall.

    Remington is my favorite artist.

I have scrimshawed several of his drawings on horns.

I have a large framed print of his painting "Dash For Timber" in our living room.

The Remington Art Museum is in Ogdensburg NY, about 50 miles from me. I have been there several times. It has a great exhibit that shows how the bronzes were cast. The example they use is the Bronco Buster.

Several years ago a friend of mine in Belton Texas went to an estate sale there. She told me that they had several large Remington bronzes in the sale, and that they were bought by someone at a very low price. She later found out that they were all first run series Bronzes worth thousands.

Les, I'm trying to identify a Remington bronze that was given to me by a cousin in Denver. It came with a card saying "Bronco Buster". It is of a horse really bucking, the rider waving a lariat (which is a fine copper wire,) dangling to the ground). Is the one you have identified similar to this. I'm not completely ignorant about rodeo riding but it seems to me that a lariat doesn't fit into bronco busting. My Remington may be misidentified. What say you?

John, go to ebay and search Remington bronze. I believe the wire should be waving in the air instead of on the ground. It also appears that there are several different versions of what the rider is waving. Tom

Tom, the lariat is waving in the air and continues on down from there to the ground. When I checked Ebay there are some which appears the rider is waving a quirt.

I have one of Bruce Brady's "Tatanka" Bronzes.
My Father bought it at the Charleston South Carolina Wildlife Art Show back in the 80's.
About a week or two after he bought it, Bruce Brady contacted my Father to ask if he happened to have any buyers remorse. He had a very important call for it.
Apparently, the White House had contacted Brady, President Reagan wanted one! And my Father bought the artists last one!
My Father told him, President Reagan can have mine! I'll meet you at the White House and we can deliver it together!
Well, that didn't happen.......Brady found one at a gallery where he had one on consignment.
President Reagans Tatanka is at the Reagan Library, my Fathers is in my Den.

Many different castings were called/named "Bronco Buster".

If you have an original 32"

You would be holding a Remington that could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

If you are really in to Western Art a trip to the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK is a must. The Davis Firearms Museum is just up the road in Claremore.

Hey @gearheaddad - I have the same bronze from Bruce Brady. (found your comment by searching around for some background on it). I got it from my grandfather when he moved out of his house in to an assisted care facility. It's proudly displayed in my office along with some other western art he collected over the years.

Thanks for the background on it! I've got that picture of Reagan with the bronze and Mr Brady stashed away.
