My cousin uses a 10 ga 3 1/2 inch magnum for his turkey loads with 1 7/8 oz. of shot. Now i uses 12 ga 3 inch magums with 2 oz. of shot. Why would a company make a longer, larger gauge shell (the same co. remington)with less shot?

Call Remington. They do "why "questions.

'call remington,' now that was valuable....[8]

the deal is, the larger the diameter of a bore, the better a gun will pattern. it causes the swarm to be wider as it leaves the muzzle, instead of being stretched out and longer. you get better patterns with a better spread. density(lead quantity) isnt the issue, its the roundness to the pattern, plus MV, as was already mentioned.
