Hi all, first time posting on forum, I just bought a Colt commander 45 serial #CLW004536 from what I have found it was Mfg. in 1969 it's probably 60-70% It has adjustable rear sights I thought they were fixed on the Colt Commander or were they adjustable before 1970? I haven't even shot it yet am going to this weekend any input on what ammo I should use I'm 66 years old and don't want something thats going to kick my butt.

Thanks, Tom Oh I paid $150.00 for it I almost feel guilty almost

Can someone help me identify a blue Commander? It starts with the serial number "80SB" and has five digits after that. It is not cut for the 80 Series safety but everything I have found says that 70 Series guns start with "70". For all outward appearances, lettering etc. it looks like a 70. Any help is appreciated.

No, I'm totally sure they were only made for full length Colts.

Hello a standard model will function . However the recoil spring cover on the commander frame will not cover the spring up to the recoil spring plug . will look ugly and you could get your finger pinched if you hold with both hands to shoot it. but It will work and function.
