High Standard Sentinel 22 Revolvers

I have owned and/handled/shot both types of revolver and I have always wondered if a relationship existed between the High Standard 22 revolvers and those made by Hermann Weihrauch in Germany - especially his HW-series guns sold as the Arminius brand. The overall design and frame/grip shape seem very similar to me, but all the sites I've ever checked say it was an in-house High Standard design made to meet a Sears/J.C. Higgins requirement. Opinions, info, please. Thanks!

Don't believe there was any parts that would interchange,,the H.S. was a durable imo aluminum frame for the most aprt and the Armin was a shell splitter and lead pealer. imo

The short answer is no. I had the same question about the revolver in this photo. That Firearms International sold back in the 60's, for a short time.

Asked John Stimpson who is the honcho of the H.S. forum, and website. The same question. His answer was no, although their is superficial physical similarities. These .22 revolvers had no connection with the H-S Sentinel.

Well, the High Standard "Sentinels" were designed in the mid 1950s and produced entirely in the USA.

Good historical reference and summary here: http://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/Sentinel/sentinel.html

The "Arminius" guns were all German made, and so far as I know there was no relationship between Weirauch and High Standard, business or otherwise.

Its certainly possible that the German company copied certain design elements from the High Standard, which was a successful and popular low-cost design revolver of its time.

But while there are going to be certain similarities between any two low-cost .22 revolvers, there are simply not the same guns: Sentinel is a 9 shot gun and built to better ("higher") standards, Arminius 8 shot. As mentioned above, I don't think there is any parts compatibility between the two, and if you compare the two images below, you'll see more than a few differences in cylinder, ejector rod, triggerguard, and elsewhere.

Sorry about that.[V] Thats the only photo of a Regent I could find, that wasn't on a auction. The GB forums have filters, that censor the URL's of any auction(s), other than the GB site.
