without modification?

BTW the seller says the barrel lug/bolt
that attaches to the top of the magazine is only 14 1/4" from the breech end
of the barrel.

    No it will not work without changing other parts. The 500 and 590 attach at different points to the gun. You would have to swap out mag tubes to get a 500 barrel on a 590 and vise versa.
