I have a P38 in excellent condition and matching numbers, there are also an eagle over 359 on receiver, slide, hammer, trigger, holster etc.Would anyone know what the eagle over 359 stands for and what it might be worth? Thanks Hank [8D]

    That is basically an acceptance stamp. There should be another stamp on it somewhere that will denote the maker of the P38

    BYF & SVW = Mauser will also have a two digit code denoting year of manufacture

    AC = Walther will also have a two digit code denoting year of manufacture

    cyq = Spreewerk

    Also to give a good value estimate we need really good pics of the gun.

    Eagle359 is the Walther plant. Look for an "ac" over the year, located on the left side of the slide aft of "P.38" and post that. Four parts (after 1941) are all that is serialized in the P.38. Slide, locking block, frame, and barrel. Do all 4 match?
