Stevens Model 52. Striker installed correctly?

Looked everwhere I can think to look & can't find any information on this rifle.
Is the striker installed in the bolt correctly?
The reason I ask is.
Can't open the bolt unless the striker is cocked.
Must be cocked to load a round.
After loading a round the only way to safe it is to lower the bolt.
Is it working correctly?

Beginning in the mid 1930's, Savage/Stevens went through a bolt development period. Rifle actions remained outwardly similar, but the bolts and trigger engagements where updated. The main thing they seemed to looking for a good safety system. And some of the earlier one where bolts that cocked upon opening of action. But w/bolt knob that could be eased to decocked status as a safety.
Must pull the bolt back by hand & cock it to open the action.
