Another Garand Question for Mark Christian

A friend had a 1917 Eddystone with a 2-groove barrel. Since my research has indicated that Remington was the only maker of 2-groove barrels, it must have been a replacement. I read somewhere that Remington also made 2-groove replacement barrels for Garands. Have you ever run across one or can you confirm or discount that as a rumor?

    Not Mark but....
Your friend with the 1917 Eddystone and two groove barrel, well
the two groove was a replacement. As originally manufactured, all
1917's came with a five (5) groove barrel.
    MC can address the Garands.
Edit for clarification-Remington did not make a two groove barrel
    for the 1917.

"Edit for clarification-Remington did not make a two groove barrel

There were some experiments made with two groove M1 barrels during WWII, but the time savings in making a two groove barrel verses time spent retooling to produce them did not add up. Marlin, Line Materials (LMR) and H&R were the largest producers of M1 replacement barrels and all of them were four groove.
