Looking for a source for a replacement front sight for my Colt Gold Cup. Front sight tenon broke off the other day. Discontinued Millet .200" height. Would like to find the same one if possible. Would buy the set if that's what's available.
Thanks for any leads.

Brownells carries a extensive selection of Millet sights. Call up their customer service folks. Or go to their on-line site.

I think Millett has entirely discontinued their 1911 pistol sights several years ago. They don't offer any on their website, and none are listed in their current catalog. I'd also bet they don't have any in stock, though if you call them, they might be able to offer a suggestion for where to find a replacement.
I don't think you're going to find any of these on a normal website. These do come up for sale on GunBroker.com and other auction sights. Individual gunsmiths and/or custom shops may have leftover new-old stock. . .you'd have to call around.
You can also probably have a custom maker fabricate you something similar to the original. Dawson precision, for one, fabricates sights to fit Millett mounts (including the double-stake type), and price is reasonable. They can probably hook you up with something that works; that's worth a phone call. Novak is another. . .give them a call and see what they say.

If you don't mind a. orange, and b. ordering from Europe, here's a source for NOS .200" stake-on Millet, price is actually not bad, considering:

Edit: I agree with Rufe; painting an orange one (that you have) white should be pretty easy, and probably a heck of a lot easier than finding a white one. Testors enamel model paint works fine, is cheap, and pretty durable.
Here's a possible domestic source. You'd have to call to check availability, but IMO for $20, this looks like a no brainer:

Edit 2: You're welcome.
Incidentally, maybe I'm the only one, but I actually like a bright orange front sight; at least for combat type guns where its easy to see and will contrast against virtually every background.
Something like that would be non-traditional in a pure target gun, but it can still work.
IMO, there is also something to be said about front and rear sights being different colors, though I think that's a "love it or hate it" type thing. Its more important if you have a three dot sighting system (eg where in dim light or with a partially obscured sight you might actually have some trouble telling which was front and rear sights).
Thanks, beantownshootah. Yes, I understand they were discontinued some time ago...hoping to find some "new old stock" somewhere. Been checking auctions; close but no cigar yet. I've seen an orange one, but am still hoping for white. fabrication might become my only option, other than replacing the set with something else entirely.
Paint the orange one white. I've been painting my front sights for years. Using neon acrylic paint. It's quite durable, although easily removable. Available in the hobby department of Walmart. In small plastic bottles, for a couple of bucks.

I think there are better quality choices with the same type blade the Millet was cast and many had the same problem you had .
