Ruger P95 issue

Having an issue with a blued Ruger P95 9mm. The pistol shoots flawlessly until all of the sudden the pistol locks up. It seems like the slide stop is loose and moves out a bit just enough to lock up the mag and the slide. After a little manipulation the mag will release and then the slide works again. I have examined it but cannot find any issues. I was thinking it might be either the slide stop spring is not working properly or the slide stop itself is worn (doesn't appear to be) and I need to replace it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

When re-assembling, make sure the guide rod/spring assy is properly located against the barrel stud. Beyond that, if there's a real mechanical problem, Ruger will make it right.

Are you using a Ruger factory magazine? This sounds like a problem an ill-fitting aftermarket magazine might cause.

What ammunition are you shooting too? I've always thought that Ruger designed the magazine dimensions to use a usually "shorter" overall cartridge length with lighter weight hollow-point bullets; some heavy ball ammo can have bullets shaped fairly long and they seem to ride hard on the front of the magazine. Have you seen this same problem with all the ammunition you've used?

    Competentone:

I have both pro mags and Ruger mags. I have been trying to duplicate the conditions here and so far I HAVE been able to duplicate it with the Pro mags but the Ruger Mags seem to be ok. Maybe it is the pro mags. I will watch this closely at the range. You may have figured it out. Thank you.

    Pro Mags = junk
Ruger factory mags = made by Mec Gar which are good mags.
