Thinking of buying one. But would like to use the 30 carbine ammo. Is it possible to use the 30-06 chamber inserts with the carbine ammo?

I look at one years ago. I wanted to get the 45-70 12 gauge that was listed in the catalogue but never produced. I think chamber adapters will work.

Sighting might be a consideration, unless you intend to use optics/red dot(s) etc.

The substantial difference in bullet weights, and muzzle velocities. Between the 30 Carbine and 30-06. Likely would contribute, to a great difference in point of impact. The iron sights the Baikal comes with. Might not be able to adjusted enough to compensate, for this difference?

barrel twist rates are considerably different, as well. The carbine lists at 1 in 20" the '06 is usually 1 in 10".

Even though it is a strong gun, do not expect it to be like a Holland & Holland, Merkel, or Westly Richards double...you get what you pay for.

The inserts should work fine. The extractors won't reach the carbine rim unless you are going to extract the inserts after shooting and remove the empty casing by hand from the insert.

I have a Rem/Baikal .223/12ga. Regulation of the barrels is poor.
    I would not buy another.
