I may be coming in to possession of a Japanese type 5 rifle for a consignment sale. There is very little sales history out there that I have been able to find. I beleave one sold somewhere in the early 2000 to 2004 date range for 30,000, and a report of a partial, nearly complete one sold for around 29,000. The latest I can find is one that sold at a James Julia auction in March of 2008, for 21,850. If anyone has any other auction or private sales info, I would really appreciate it. I currently have a few pictures that aren't very good to work from, hopefully I'll get some better pics soon, but with what I have to work with, condition appears to be pretty average.

My advice: Since your photos aren't good, it would be worth the investment to pay a professional photographer to take a set of 30-40 pictures, & you should recoup the client's money upon sale. (Hint: Most good "wedding" photographers have "studio" experience.")

mmyers, IF I get this firearm on consignment, I will definatly take some high quality pics. I have a good friend who has a number of VERY EXPENSIVE high quality cameras, think Leica, and does a lot of outdoor and wildlife photography. I will sure enlist his services in taking an entire series of pics of the gun.
