Removing Chrome plating from gun part

Any advise on removing chrome plating from a gun part. Did a Google search and looks like there are several methods. I am looking for the one with the least trouble that works. Can it be buffed off?

Yes, there WERE guns that were taken down local bumper shop, and chromed, but those are the exception. Yes, nickel can be removed by buffing with a fine abrasive, and bead blasting. Do it wrong and you will round over sharp edges, dish out screw holes, and become known as "Bubba".
There are chemical removers made just for nickel. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/metal-prep-coloring/pre-finish-surface-prep/room-temperature-nickel-stripper-prod1102.aspx
