I won a Carl Gustafs Stads 6.5x55 dated 1899. My question is, can this rifle shoot Remington express Core-Lokt 6.5x55 Swedish 140 GR Core-Lokt PSP ammo safely?

Yes, the usual cautions apply; condition, etc. That ammo is not particularly hot. I'll check my range notes for chronographed velocity.

EDIT: The only rifle I fired that Remington ammo in was a Swede 94 carbine. Velocity averaged 2169 fps for 15 shots from that short 17.5" barrel. From the long 29" barrel of the 96, you should expect around 2460 fps.

Thank You Ambrose, I appreciate that. The reason I asked about that particular ammo is because I have a box I bought by accident last year & now I won the rifle.

I had one identical to that, year and make, about 25 years ago. The accuracy will amaze you. With commercial 6.5x55, it fired 100-yard groups that were rectangular, but about .650 high by .100 wide. The original quality of those rifles probably beat anything commercially made in the U.S. today. BTW, the ammunition that I used was Serbian, then marketed as 'Hansen', now marketed as PRVI.
