I would like to make contact with anyone having knowledge regarding The Winchester Sniper Rifle Type 2. It was a .30 caliber bolt gun made in 1922 on a Springfield action scoped with the A5. The barrel was heavy and tapered from 1 and 1/8 inch at the breech to 7/8 inch at the muzzle. It had a checkered stock, cheek rest, and swivels. Any and all information greatly appreciated.

The Complete Book of US Sniping by Peter Senich has a photo of the Winchester heavy barrel target rifle that meets that description, except the stock appears to be a plain, uncheckered finger groove type. According to Mr Senich, this was made for the commercial market in 1922. His book is an essential reference in the area of US sniping rifles.

Thanks nmyers. I appreciate the note and reference information. Maybe the photo of the one you saw was the Type 1.
