Can someone please explain to me the differences of press checkering, cut checkering, etc. on rifle stocks??
Also why is one more desirable than the other??

'cut' checkering is just that, wood removed by a cutting tool, it leaves nice sharp edgeges and can be done very precisly. 'Pressed' checkeding is pressed in with a reverse mould and leaves rounded edges and a 'slipery' feal.

MW is right, but pressed checkering can be turned into cut checkering, and if your careful no one will even know the difference.
