Just got off the phone with ruger. Yes I did call. The barrels on the MK2 are you threaded on and then torqued. No cryo or sub zero treatments. The lady on the phone thought that was quite funny! So it look like as long as both barrel and receiver are supported, no problem. I'll tell more once I try it!
