I recently bought a 681 .357 that I know little about. I have seen them before as distinguished service models, but this 1 is plain. It is stainless with a sandblasted look and a set of aftermarket grips that I don't really care for. My questions are, how common is this gun? Reccomend a decent large rubber grip! And also what is this finish called?

They are pretty common; a lot of PD's used them before the hi-cap 9mm craze. My 681 is stamped NYSP, & is polished stainless, except for the bead blasted top of the barrel. It came from the cops with rubber Pachmeyer grips, a welcome addition when firing full power .357 mag loads.

I'm not sure Quikdraw, but I think it's an "L" frame.
