I just acquired one and it needs some attention (ie) the cylinder spins freely. I live in WA. Are there any Colt "smiths" in my area or should I send it to Colt? It's a solid 90% revolver and I want to keep it that way. Thanks, Bill

These were made from 1889 to 1894. The two I have are 38 long colt. I see cowboy action ammo is available in black powder and smokeless. Am I correct in assuming these would be black powder?

IMO, you are correct in using black powder.

I think smokeless could be to much pressure for these old fellas, so why push the envelope?
