Need Remington Model 51 part ID "HELP" thanks!

Hi Guys,

Need help identifying a missing part ( by name ) on a Model 51 Remington .380 Pistol. There is a hole in the right side of the frame right below the "R" in Remington. I cannot tell by the Numrich schematic what part it is missing. If you look at GunBroker Auction # 459653665 ( photo #4 )you will see the round button I am referring to. Any help greatly appreciated!!

The factory manual here. Barrel lock pin is above and to the right ? http://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/questions/M51_05

added they list a plug as #71 on the list but I don't see it in the drawing.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it is not the barrel pin. The schematic from Remington you provided is much better in quality than the Numrich schematic but neither shows the part. I wonder if it is the receiver plug which is listed as NI (not illustrated )in Numrich's parts list. Someone out there must know. Appreciate any help!!

I went over the references, that I have. Can't find anything definitive? Since it's only on one side of the receiver. It only seems to be a access for internal machining?

Very likely to my way of thinking. It's the receiver plug, you have mentioned.

It might be a interference fit part? That isn't meant to be removed.

I just looked at my model 51 I don't think it is meant to be removed and from what I can see does not really serve any purpose. [?]

I have seen the hole referenced as "trigger lever opening" so it is obviously some kind of plug. All the available schematics (so far) seem to ignore that the plug exists. The only possible reference I have seen is the mysterious part 71 "receiver plug" referenced above.

It looks like it is only a byproduct of machining the clearance for the trigger lever.

My thoughts also. Guess I will turn a plug on the lathe and leave a lip to catch on the inside of the frame since I have not seen the receiver plug offered for dale on the regular part sites.

I truly appreciate the responses.

Yes, it's an access hole to machine clearance for trigger lever as shown in the cutaway.
I believe the pin is press fit into the frame.
I suspect it may be a headed pin. .220 dia x .020 high are the dims of the head.Measure your pin hole to determine if it's a head or the whole pin dia.
I would design for a light press fit and install from the outside.
