How good are the Remington Sendero's?

I have been saving for an Elk rifle and I finally saved enough for a nice rifle I am looking at the Sendero and the Weatheryby Ultramark. 300 Rum (Sendero} 300 Weatherby {Ultramark).
Are these two rifles coparible in quality?
I am going to keep the rifle for life.
Is there enough difference in the two rounds to make one a clear winner?
I have dies and brass for the Weatherby but dies and brass are not that big of an expense to make that the determing factor.
I Feel like I have beat this to death and am looking for some insight.
I already have a burris scope for wich ever rifle I end up with.
Thanks for any oppinions.[:)]

I guess the easiest place to start is at the beginning:
- BOTH rifles weigh 8-1/2 lbs. according to the factory specifications. That means with a good scope, rings and base(s) you'll be near 10 lbs. approximately.
- Both cartridges are proven and will perform nearly the same when loaded with a standard 180 gr. hunting bullet in the factory 26" barrels. The RUM will surpass the Weatherby with heavier bullets.
- Without starting an argument about how much each costs, the MSRP for the Weatherby is nearly $2980.00 factory and the MSRP for the Sendero is $1300.00 factory. To put it more pragmatically, you can buy the Sendero, get a great scope, rings and base plus ammunition for what you will pay for the Ultramark alone.
- The Sendero has an aluminum bedding block and the Weatherby will have to have pillars and bedding (more cost) to be sure of the consistency.
- The Weatherby is beautiful, the Sendero is utilitarian and I prefer utility any day on an elk hunt.
- If 10 lbs. for either rifle is too heavy, you have two choices:
1) Start training now a little at a time until you are in shape to go elk hunting and carry a rifle.
2) Get a lighter rifle and let it beat you nearly senseless with either of these cartridges. I have a 6 lb. .300 Weatherby and I can vouch for this. I also carry a 13 lb. Laredo in the field for elk hunting, so I know both ends.
I shoot both the RUM and the Weatherby so I have no favorite in the choice.
Good Luck!
Best.
But there is still a $600 difference between them that could be spent on glass and bases and rings.
I just want a quality rifle that will be accurate.
My 22/250 is a savage 12fvss it weighs 8.5 pounds bare so with the scope and bases&rings I guess it around 11 lbs. And I carry it coyote hunting all day. So that won't bother me so much
Best
Put a brake and a good pad on it and you'll be fine....
