I've heard good reports on how they shoot but had a hard time assembling one for a dealer at a gun show who gave up on it.
My take after that struggle is that QC on fit wasn't to Mil Specs.

I have shot three examples of the Norinco. Two were decent guns, the third was a real turd.

Since they haven't been imported and sold in the States since the 90's, because of slick willies deal with the Chinese government. Don't see it being any sort of a great deal. Probably $100 to $150 more then its worth. Go with a new Rock Island, if your willing to put that kind of money in a bare bones .45.

Seems high to me also, I would look at the Rock Island. I have the Norinco and Rock Island and can't tell much difference in them. Both shoot pretty good. I paid around $300 for each several years ago. You can still find RIA for under $400 for bare bones.

$350-$375 is the most I would pay for one. They are usually great guns, though. I put a Kimber 22 conversion on mine and it is an excellent shooter.

...Seen several, was not impressed with fit and finish at all. Friend had one that was hit and miss with going bang regardless of ammo; sometimes the same ammo would work well, other times not.

He/we changed all parts that could cause the problem, semi hard to find some of the parts too, he finally sold it.

About a week ago a GREAT seller here had a Model 1927 Colt/Sistema for sale...in the price range your talking about, pistolpac is his username. He had it at a STEAL, and he is one of the "good guys"...does not live too far from me I picked mine up from him FTF, closer to David, as right up the road.

Colt/Sistem is a COLT 1911A1 built on Colt machinery, original Colt specs, licensed by Colt, just built in Argentina...identical to the 1911A1, so much so that EVERY part for the Colt will interchange with the Sistema. NOT the Argie Ballaster Molina, which is similar to the Colt...but only the grip screws from a US Colt will interchange.

Look up the history of the Colt/Sistema and you will see why it's a Colt. Colt snobs don't see it this way, but I do...enough people see it "my way" that they are scarce now and the prices are UP there. Mine shoots GREAT, but then it's a Colt...slide is even marked "Sist/Colt". The price has doubled in the last 5 years or so...folks learned about them, and that was it; most are priced like the Colt's in comparable condition now.

IF you get in touch with pistolpac, David Nunn has his em and phone...he may still have the Sistema...he has nothing listed at the moment, then tomorrow he may have THREE PAGES listed. If you don't just have to "have it" right now, be patient and you will find a nice Sistema in your price range, but worth the wait!

Great guy and I gaurantee you will like the Colt/Sistema a LOT better than the Norinco which is a clone. The model 1927 designation came about the same way the Model 1911 Colt designation came about; 1927 was the year the Argentines placed the Sistema into service...just as our military did w/the Colt 1911...[;)]

...Here's my Sistema...and keep in mind I am a die hard Colt fan...[^]...pics aren't too good, but you can see it looks like the 1911A1.
