i went to browning to figure my serial number out - but i must not be a very good code breaker!
1Z over 46022 - also on the butt plastic it says browning with initial on the inside FN.
what year made? and where? and worth? I'd say its a 9 out of 10 in condition and all looks original.
I bought it at a pawn shop ten yrs ago and just want to kind of know what I have
thanks

Looks like a Light 20 Belgium Browning made in 1961. 20 ga were introduced in 1958 and two digit year codes were numbered starting in 1968. Should have a round knob on the grip.

Valuation pends on ventilated rib barrel. Mine is an oz 1960. Very clean original FN ventilated barrel gun would bring $1200+

Welcome to the forum Monty - You have been given flawless information - Browning items can at times be a little difficult to dope out - Your Belgian Browning Fabrique Nationale 2-3/4" chambered 20 ga A-5 has come to be known as the Light Twenty, although it was not known as such when it was manufactured - when yours was made (1961) Browning had not yet begun to market the Magnum Twenty with the 3" chamber (it was introduced in 1967) Once Browning had two 20 ga shotguns in the market they came to be known as the Light Twenty (2-3/4") and the Magnum Twenty (3") - (Note that the barrels do not interchange) - both are fine shotguns and you will undoubtedly be pleased to see how yours has appreciated in value.
