Ruger 22/45 Help

Got a 22/45. Haven't used it much and took it out today, was going to take it down for cleaning. Cleared the chamber, fired the striker and pulled the take down lever. Met with more resistance than what I thought I should, stopped and tried to put the take down back, now it will go back but pistol won't function properly. Bolt is hard to work and the striker won't cock. Almost feels like the take down lever isn't seated just right.

Can't find the manual and way too impatient to get one from Ruger.

Anyone got ideas/suggestions?

Hello A.J. you have just discovered the one fault I have with the design of the Ruger 22 cal semi auto pistols. The take down and then getting it back together Correctly can be a pain in the A**. On top of that one model must have the hammer cocked and the other must Not have the hammer cocked when putting back together and I can never remember which is which. . I am not a good enough WORD-SMITH to explain but Lets hope someone does reply . My first suggestion would be to take back apart and if I remember it is much easier to put back with both grip frame and bolt / barrel assm. held upside down.

    Thanks guys.

    Got it.

Hammer spur was not in the correct position and engaging the hammer spring.

Not such a good design in this respect, can be assembled incorrectly. It can go together but it won't work. Not good.

    Again, thanks for the replies.
