I have an older Mini 14 that is horribly inaccurate. at 50 yards the best group I can get is about 4". Are there some tips and tricks to help the old girl? Or is is time to replace the barrel or part it out? Thanks for any help.

I have also seen a barrel stabilizer thing that makes mini rifles more accurate. It is basically a 1" dia tube that goes over the barrel to improve harmonics and stop barrel whip.
You may want to consider just trading the whole thing in, getting a newer heavier barreled version. They're supposedly more accurate and my guess is would be more economical than replacing the current barrel.
You might want to just trade it in on an AR15 if you want accuracy. Much cheaper than having it accurized.
The mini rifles were meant to be "pickup truck" plinkers and coyote educators.
Basically, they recommend a smaller aperture in the gas block, bedding, fine-tuning the pressure points along the barrel, and sometimes replacing the stock.
I have had great results working from the other direction: reloading for the mini. My 180-series has had a lot of testing done through it, and the absolute best I can do (reloading-wise) is a 1" group at 125yds, using Berger Match bullets and a reduced load to around 2300fps.
An AR platform will cost more than Accuracy Systems' work, but if you want someone else to do all the work; they are the guys.
