I presently have a 1837 French pistol on the GB auction site and have had some request to sell it to someone in France. What kind of hassle might that be?

Hello Tell this person that if HE arranges for an agent in the U.S.A that you will gladly ship to this agent. DO NOT try to ship to him direct Firearm laws in EUROPE change from Day to Day and YOU the shipper can and most likely breaking the law. If this is an 1837 pistol you can legally ship to anyone in the U.S.

I recently shipped an antique to the UK. No problem at this end, customs seized it at the other end, buyer had to go down and get it, prove it was an antique. France may be similar?

French firearms laws are actually amoung the most permissive in Europe, but I would perhaps seek advice from the legal liaison at your nearest French Consulate..
