Does anyone make a "light load" for the 45 ACP for use in a light weight 45 ACP so we can get some practice shooting the gun without beating up the shooter and gun as much? Or is this a hand load situation only?

A 185gr. match would be about the "lightest" recoiling load, if your gun will feed it. You might have to change the recoil spring in the gun also. The only other thing to do is load your own, and "tune" the gun for them.

DCS is correct on the lightest is the 185 grain semi wad cutter load. He is also correct as to the recoil spring . If you Hand load and switch the recoil spring you could load some very light loads say 3.4 grains of Bulls-Eye powder and the pistol would kick less then most 38 SPECIAL revolvers.

If you are going to do a lot of practicing it might be wise to check out some used reloading equipment. Check out the local gun shows, lots of used stuff there. It seems to me all factory ammo is very expensive today.
