Should I Trade?

Should I trade my Smith & Wesson Sw9ve 9mm pistol for a Chinese SKS rifle? The rifle has matching numbers, bayonet, 10 rd magazine, and a spare 30 rd magazine. The gentlemen told me he only shoots Winchester ammunition through the rifle. I have been knowing this guy for several years. I bought my pistol brand new and it came with a rebate, I purchased the pistol for $320. I told him I would include an extra magazine. When he gets back into town he said we would talk. I really want this SKS because I haven't seen many that are in this good of shape.

If a few people could give me their opinion on the trade I would appreciate it. Thanks

Forgot to mention, my pistol has had about 75 rounds fired through it. In addition I am not a big fan of this model pistol. About a month ago I took it into a gun shop and they told me they could not offer me no more than $200.00.

I wouldn't. Smith's worth more. Where I live you can get a SKS for anywhere from 200 to 250 in pretty good shape.

It's up to you. If you are sick of it trade it. Think I could find a SKS for the same as sammash. Figure if you consign your pistol for what you paid somewhere your cut after the dealer's 20% is going to be $256.

Back in the day when SKSs were cheap, $99, I told all my friend and relatives here in Kalif that they should put one in their earthqauake prep kit along with the food water et al. Some did some waited and now whine about prices. Most Nam vets I know/have known have a real hate/respect attitude with the SKS as it made life very nasty for them. If the deal works for you then you really can't go very wrong. The AK and many others are more advanced weapon systems, but the SKS works well. If you don't own one and can't buy one in as good condition for less then.......

i bought mine for $89 with the cleaning kit, bayonet, etc and it's my favorite plinking rifle, and it is part of my SHTF kit.

To answer your question, I have regretted every gun I have ever sold, traded, etc.

If you can get a SKS for around $200-$250 then its really an even deal .. Your pistol isnt worth more than $200 since its used.. It comes down to what do you want more ? Semi auto rifles right now are hot !If you dont like the pistol get rid of it . its not one of S&W's finer pieces anyway.. Id rather have the SKS right now personally..and Im a dealer if it matters.

I would find out what he would sell the SKS for out right. You have to remember the Shop you went to is going to mark up that pistol and sell it to someone for a PROFIT. Why cant you do the same. I traded some junk for my SKS. you just have to find some one that needs something bad enough. You may find someone who wants the hand gun but would rather buy it from you. You might find the Guy with the SKS needs the cash and would take 150.00 bucks for it.

Cover all of your bases. Make sure you are not trading problems as well
