I rebarreled a rifle and the barrel was a smaller around than the first. Now I have a gap between the barrel and the sides of the barrel chanel. The barrel glassed well to the bottom but it looks
weard with the gap on the sides. Is there any way to fill the sides in so it looks good or do I need to get a new stock????

Hey guys just got my 300 win mag back from the woodsmith and have a question. The thickness of the wood by the ring ( Its a large ring Mauser) Is real thin I mean about alittle less than a 1/4 of in. The guy I had finish it put pins in this area and behind trigger for strength. Heres my question is this just to thin for the recoil of a 300 win mag or will it be safe???? I have thought about rapping it up in a blanket for the first few shots. But you guys always have the right answer.

Can a Remington 700 SA sporter stock be opened up enough for a heavy barrel? Thanks, Ken

How do you tell if a Remington 700 wood stock is long action or short?

Edited to add the word wood.
    Also it's a ADL.

    Wood or synthetic?

The only 700 stocks I have had in the shop that were not attached to rifles have been synthetic, and they have all been marked inside as to which action they fit.

I have a wood stock that I bought and now want to sell.
There's nothing written in the stock that I can see.
