SKS scope mounting possible?

I was shooting at the range and there was a guy shooting a Russian SKS. It would shoot 3 inches at 100 yards. Guy thought it would shoot better with a scope. I told him it probably wouldn't, 3 inches at 100 yards was good. Anyway I suggested he come here and ask, he is a older gentlemen and doesn't have internet (didn't know they existed) and he asked me if I would ask. So can you? What is the best way?

hello. the best scope mount made for the sks is the mount that replaces the entire rear bolt cover. you simply pull the rear takedown pin, pull the old cover off and put the new one on. they are very solid. you can find them at centerfire systems, cheaper than dirt and cdnn.

Choate drill and tap mounts. I used one on mine (pic below) and it is very sturdy under 2" at 100yds. Forget those receiver mounts they are worthless IMHO.

There's also the option of using a pistol scope with a scout mount. Most pistol scopes have longer eye relief and lower power, which are perfect for the 30-30-type trajectory of the 7.62X39. I believe Tapco and others have the gas tube mounts; the one I fabricated works much more solidly than the receiver cover mounts I've tried.
