Would some "EXPERT" Please help me identify this Pistol.. Is it a FAKE or the REAL THING?? I have had several different opinions on this pistol.
The pistol has an Aluminum Cyl. with Serial #2937xx stamped on the outer rim of cyl. Frame is stamped on bottom of Grip..#C2937xx.
Stamped above the Cyl. is >> REVOLVER,LIGHTWEIGHT,M13
Stamped on Back-Strap is >> Property Of U.S. Air Force
The barrel is not stamped AIR CREW

Please e-mail me for Pics..

Thank you for any Information..

Get hold of a copy of the book "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson". Has a good write-up on the Aircrewman revolvers.

Have a very knowledgeable collector check yours out for authenticity. It seems to be correct, and in the right serial number range, but most of the original approximately 40,000 made, were destroyed by the Air Force.

I, for one, am too lazy to ask for emailed photos. Instructions for posting photos are in a sticky near the top of the home page; if you are going to ask for advice, you need to go to the trouble of learning how to post your own photos.

The only valid reason for posting a partial serial number is if you think the gun has been stolen, & you want to be sure that it doesn't get back to the legitimate owner. There are KNOWN fakes of this pistol, & the serial number might help identify it.

If the pistol was acquired from a gun shop in So Cal, I can save you some trouble; it is likely a fake.
